It is no secret that Celtic had tried to appoint Eddie Howe as the manager of the club this summer. But after it failed to materialise after a long saga, the Hoops ended up bringing in Ange Postecoglou. And it is safe to say that at this point of time, most fans are delighted with the appointment.
Postecoglou must be commended for the work that he has done since coming in. While results have been mixed, the improvement in the performances from last season is clear for all to see.
Also, a number of new players have come in over the summer and they are expected to take some time to gel together with their new teammates. But once they do, Celtic could very possibly take their game up another level, which is an exciting thought.
On the other hand, Howe has remained out of management. And new claims have emerged about why he decided to turn down the Celtic job in the summer.
Why Howe turned down Celtic job this summer
As reported by Football Insider, Howe turned down the Celtic job because he is waiting for the Southampton job to become available. He does not want to rush back into management and location will be a key factor when it comes to his next job.
When it had first emerged that Howe was not going to become their manager, it was seen as a massive blow for the Hoops. But since then, it must be said that things have turned out quite well for the club.
They certainly seem on the right path at the moment. While the results can improve further, they have been playing some excellent football and could end up challenging for the Premiership title if they can continue to improve through the course of the season. It is safe to say that this is an exciting time to be a Celtic fan.
