Bastian Schweinsteiger is a legend of both the Germany national team and Bayern Munich, and was one of the best midfielders of his generation. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that he has played against some of the biggest teams in world football, including Celtic.

While the Hoops have not managed to make the UEFA Champions League group stages for quite some time, they were competing regularly in Europe’s top competition at one point of time not too long ago.

Celtic Park is widely known to have one of the best atmospheres in all of football and it appears to have left an impression on Schweinsteiger.

When asked about the stadium with the most impressive away atmosphere during a Q&A session, Schweinsteiger tweeted out:

Schweinsteiger picks Celtic as the most impressive atmosphere

That is certainly some high praise coming from someone like Schweinsteiger, who has won the FIFA World Cup with the Germany national team and won everything that there is to win at the club level with Bayern Munich.

Thus, it is safe to say that he has done it all and seen it all in football. Thus, him picking Celtic Park as having the most impressive atmosphere certainly counts for something.

He is not the only one to do so over the years though. Many legends of football have made similar claims about Parkhead in the past.

It is safe to say that there is nothing like a big European night under the lights at Celtic Park. And the club must aim towards getting back to the UEFA Champions League in the future.

For now though, the focus must be on the Europa League, where they have some pretty big games coming up as well as they have been placed in a group with Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros. It will be interesting to see how Ange Postecoglou’s side perform against opposition of that quality.
