After getting knocked out of the UEFA Champions League qualification phase early, Celtic did very well to make it into the Europa League group stage this season. Ange Postecoglou’s side have a tough group to navigate through though and will face Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros. Thus, it is safe to say that some big games are coming up for the Hoops in Europe.

They will begin their Europa League group stage campaign with an away trip to Real Betis. It is certainly an exciting game for Postecoglou’s side, who have done well in recent times but it will be interesting to see how they perform against tougher oppositions.

Real Betis have not won any of their first three games in La Liga this season and they will be looking for some form. Manuel Pellegrini believes though that Celtic have an advantage heading into the Europa League tie.

As reported by the Daily Record, Pellegrini said:

"“While some games are moved, others are not, which is not good for the competition.“It seems bad to me to play on Monday as well, Celtic play on Saturday. They have 48 hours more to recover and prepare for the game.”"

Celtic do have a slight advantage heading into the Real Betis game

It must be said that Celtic do have a slight advantage heading into the game against Real Betis on Thursday. While the Hoops played their Scottish Premiership game against Ross County on Saturday, Real Betis face Granada on Monday.

Thus, Postecoglou’s side will get a couple of extra days to rest up and prepare before the European tie. And while that is certainly an advantage, clubs competing in Europe do play games every three days on a number of occasions throughout the course of the season.

It will be very interesting when Celtic meet Real Betis. The history between the two clubs is well known. And both of them like to play possession based, passing football. In fact, Postecoglou’s side are one of the best passing sides in Europe right now while Pellegrini’s team had more possession and passes than Real Madrid when they met a couple of weeks back.
