Christopher Jullien has been out of action for a quite a while. He did not play a lot of football last season and is yet to feature this time around. And it is safe to say that Celtic have missed the defender.

The Hoops’ backline has certainly looked weaker in Jullien’s absence. And it is not only at the back that the Frenchman contributes but going forward as well, as he has a great quality of scoring goals in important games.

Thus, it is safe to say that him returning to action would be a massive boost for the club, especially considering the fact that they have looked short of options at the back in recent times.

Ange Postecoglou appeared to provide a fresh update surrounding Jullien. While it looks like he is getting closer, the defender has not trained with the group yet as it looks like it could take him another couple of months before making a return to the team. As reported by The Herald, the manager said:

"“He’s getting closer but he hasn’t trained with the group yet.“But he’s out there every day and from looking at him he can’t wait to get back involved.“Hopefully over the next couple of months we’ll see him slowly get back into the team.“I think he’s got a bit of presence about him. Even though he’s not training with us he’s still fairly influential around the group. But he’ll want to get out there and contribute first of all.”"

Jullien could still be quite a bit away from a Celtic return

Jullien might still be around a couple of months away from a return to the pitch for Celtic. And it goes without saying that when he does eventually make a comeback, it will be a massive boost to Postecoglou’s side.

At this point of time, the arrival of Cameron Carter-Vickers on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur appears to have been a solid addition to the squad as well and could improve things at the back.

Carter-Vickers made a brilliant debut for Celtic, looking assured in defence, keeping a clean sheet and scoring as well. And it will be interesting to see if he can continue to perform like that throughout the course of the season. It must be pointed out that the Hoops have an option to buy included in the loan deal.
