Just when it was looking like things were starting to settle down a bit at Celtic after a whirlwind 2020/21 campaign, there has been another major change at the club. Chief Executive Dom McKay has decided to step down from his position due to personal reasons. Michael Nicholson has been appointed as acting CEO.
McKay had been at Parkhead for just a few months and even in that short period of time, it was looking like the club were moving in a positive direction.
The appointment of Ange Postecoglou has turned out to be a very positive one and the manager has quickly become a fan favourite. The Hoops also managed to sign twelve players over the course of the summer and all things considered, it was certainly a solid transfer window for the Hoops. With the departure of McKay though, questions will be raised regarding the direction of Celtic once again.
Chris Sutton has reacted to McKay’s sudden Parkhead exit. The former Celtic player tweeted out:
Good luck to Dom McKay. A difficult time to take over the role and of course there will be much speculation as to why he’s stepped down but the main thing is Dom McKay and his family are ok. https://t.co/yhZKGQjgnw

McKay has departed Celtic after just months at the club
It is safe to say that McKay did arrive at the club during a difficult period of time. Celtic were coming off of a very disappointing 2020/21 campaign, which they had finished without a trophy and 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table.
Since his arrival, some of the decisions that the club have taken have certainly been positive ones and could have an impact on their long-term future.
On the pitch, we have already seen signs that they can return to the top of the Premiership in the future while playing some fantastic football under Postecoglou.
While the future direction of the club seems uncertain at this point, one thing that they must do is continue to back Postecoglou, who has already shown that he is a brilliant manager and can be the man to get Celtic back to winning ways.
We would also like to wish Dom McKay the best for the future.
