Celtic’s great run of form continued as they managed to win 2-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off round tie against AZ Alkmaar. It goes without saying that this is a massive result for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Heading into the game, AZ Alkmaar must have been considered as the favourites but the Hoops will have the advantage on their hands going into the second leg. Of course, the tie is far from over and there is a lot of work still to be done. But overall, this should be considered as a very encouraging performance for the Glasgow giants.

There were a number of good performances all over the pitch for the Hoops. Kyogo Furuhashi was brilliant, once again finding the back of the net. James Forrest appears to have rediscovered his form as well and scored the other goal.

Tom Rogic put in a brilliant performance in the middle of the park while the likes of Joe Hart, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh made important contributions as well.

Three things we learned from Celtic’s 2-0 win vs AZ Alkmaar

Here are three things we learned as Celtic beat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off round tie:

Kyogo Furuhashi is unstoppable at the moment

Kyogo looks like an absolute superstar in the making at Parkhead. The youngster has been brilliant during his time at the club till now.

In the game against AZ Alkmaar, Kyogo scored a brilliant opening goal in the first-half before setting up James Forrest for the second, in what was another brilliant overall performance for the Japanese star.

On current form, he looks unstoppable and it always feels like he can have an impact on the result of the game. He certainly did so against AZ Alkmaar by scoring as well as assisting. And the Hoops will be hoping that he can continue to do so moving forward.
