For the fourth straight season, Celtic won’t be in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. And it is clear that a lot of work is there to be done moving forward if they are to compete for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Of course, the introduction of Kyogo Furuhashi and Carl Starfelt to the side should be a huge boost. And hopefully, they will be able to settle into Scottish football as soon as possible.

But the Hoops need several more signings. There are a number of positions throughout the squad that need strengthening and hopefully, that will happen quickly because we are just days away from the start of the league campaign.

The club are now set to face Czech side FK Jablonec in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

3 things we learned from FC Midtjylland 2-1 Celtic

Here are three things we learned from the defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland tonight:

Dane Murray could feature a lot in the Celtic first-team this season

While the defence has been a worry for Celtic for a while, Murray has certainly emerged as an exciting prospect.

For a player who is taking his first steps in senior football, the 18-year-old has looked very impressive. And with the lack of depth at centre-back at the moment, he could feature a lot in the first-team moving forward. If he can continue to put in performances like the one tonight, then he definitely deserves to.

Unfortunately, his good performance was not enough to stop FC Midtjylland from scoring twice as they knocked the Hoops out from the qualification phase of the Champions League.
