After a long wait, Celtic finally have a new manager. The long-drawn saga has come with plenty of twists and turns along the way. And the players appear to be excited by the prospect of getting to work with Ange Postecoglou.

The official news today of the appointment of Postecoglou brought an end to the club’s search for a manager. But it’s very likely going to be a roller coaster ride over the coming weeks as the new manager starts to settle in.

The player response to the appointment has been very positive so far. Tom Rogic is someone who will already know him well from his time working with the manager with the Australian national team.

And it does look like he has had positive things to say about the 55-year-old, who guided the Australian national team to their only AFC Asian Cup title till date. He has enjoyed great success at the club level as well. He has won league titles with multiple clubs over the years, finding success in both Australia and Japan. Hopefully, he can do the same in Scotland as well.

The Celtic players seem very positive about the Postecoglou appointment

As reported by the club’s official website, James Forrest has been in touch with Rogic to ask for his views about the new manager, and he must have been very pleased with what he heard:

"‘Tom’s said really good things about the new manager. He worked with him at the Australian national team, and he said that he’s very good and that a lot of players speak highly of him.’"

Also reported by the official Celtic website, Callum McGregor has also been talking about the new manager and has said that it is up to players like him and Forrest to help him settle in although he recognises the success that Postecoglou has already had:

"“He’s coming from a different continent and it maybe falls on the likes of me and James who’ve been at the club for a long time to try and help, and know what’s around the corner in terms of games, and we’re obviously happy to do that and work together.“But he’s a smart guy, he’s had a really successful career as a manager so he’s going to have huge amounts of knowledge anyway.”"

It’s great to see that the players are excited about the appointment. Clearly there are some hard challenges ahead. And hopefully, Postecoglou is the man who will guide the Hoops back to the top of Scottish football once again.
