He has missed out on a lot over the last couple of seasons due to injury. That has left David Turnbull hungry for more trophies and caps in his Celtic career.

Turnbull was hit hard with an injury set back which left him recovering on the sidelines or otherwise, he could have arrived at Parkhead a season earlier. Finally making the move last summer has seen a mixed outcome for the player.

Individually, he has played his way into the Hoops’ first-team after starting the campaign on the bench and received great praise for his performances. With a few great goals and assists to his name already, it looks like he will be a part of the team for years to come.

But of course the Celtic season hasn’t played out in a way anyone would have expected and there has been disappointment for Turnbull on the personal front as well as he has been left out of the Scotland national team squad till now and is yet to make his full international debut. He has though, managed to win a Scottish Cup with Celtic for last season’s competition, which was eventually played this season due to the circumstances.

Turnbull is hungry for more with Celtic and the Scotland national team

As reported by the The Sunday Post, Turnbull was delighted with the Cup victory from earlier in the season and naturally, he wants more success:

"“I really didn’t expect the Cup from last season to get held back to this campaign.“But it meant I was lucky enough to be involved in our win.“That was my first trophy as a professional footballer, and it would be great to be involved in another.“Maybe not in extra time! It was exciting for people watching, but it was nervy for those playing in it.“Once we got it over the line, it was a great feeling and I was just happy to have been involved in it.“At a club like Celtic, there is a built-in drive to be winning trophies year in, year out.”"

The Scottish Cup tie next weekend against the Rangers gives the team a great chance to salvage something out of an otherwise disappointing season. A win will go a long way for their confidence not just this season but moving forward as well.

For Turnbull there is the additional motivation to make an impression, so that he can get into the Scotland squad. With the Euros coming up and with it being the national team’s first major tournament since 1998, he would be expected to be keen not to miss out on the opportunity:

"“The Scotland manager has said if I continue my club form, my chance is not far away.“So I just have to keep working hard to show him if given the chance, I will be ready.”"

Helping Celtic win the Scottish Cup could go a long way in that quest while also adding another winners’ medal to his cabinet.
