Scott Brown is a Celtic legend. There is no other way to put it. And it will be a sad day to see him leave the club at the end of this season.
But that is just how football is sometimes. And all we can do is thank him for everything that he has given to this club throughout the years. He has been an absolute legend and then some.
When Brown joined the club from Hibernian back in 2007, not many could have predicted the success that he would bring with him. In a 14-year career at Celtic, the Hoops won 22 trophies and he was the captain of one of the most successful sides in Scottish football history for over a decade.
Every fan will probably remember Brown, or Broony as most call him around Parkhead, in a different way. And that was his greatness. He gave so many reasons for the fans to remember him for. After it was announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season to join Aberdeen as a player-coach, the long-time Celtic captain delivered a classy and heartfelt message. While speaking with the club’s official website, he said:
"“It was a privilege to sign for this great club all those years ago and it has been an absolute honour to play for and Captain Celtic for so many years.“I would like to sincerely thank Peter, Dermot and the Celtic Board for their tremendous support over so many years. We have always enjoyed a great relationship and always worked closely together to bring our fans as much success as possible.“I would also like to thank the great Celtic managers I have had the good fortune to work with and also so many team-mates and, of course, the Celtic fans who have given me such phenomenal support and backing over the years.“I have always given my best to the club and always wanted the best for our fans. We have enjoyed some fantastic moments and success together, dominating the game in Scotland so regularly and enjoying some great European nights.“It is a huge decision to leave this magnificent club, which has been such a massive part of my life for so long, but this is a new opportunity for me and a new chapter. Celtic will never leave me and the club will forever be in my heart.“We still have work to do this season and that will of course, as ever be my full focus as we try to bring our fans more success.”"
It is the end of one of the most-decorated Celtic careers of all-time
Everybody would have wanted Brown to leave in a season filled with trophies. But it looks like that is not to be, as the club have failed to deliver this time around.
Hopefully, this will provide the team the motivation to kick on and win the Scottish Cup at the end of the season. It will only be fitting to see him go out with a trophy in hand, after lifting one after the other for years now.
We would like to extend our best wishes to him going forward. Thank you, Scott. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for everything.
