It is clear that Celtic will undergo an overhaul over the next months as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football next season after a disastrous 10IAR campaign that sees them sit 20 points behind the Rangers at this point of time, with the title race as good as over in early January.

Peter Lawwell has already been confirmed to be retiring from his role at the end of this season and Neil Lennon is expected to be replaced as well. A number of players are also set to head for the Parkhead exit as this season marks the end of an era for the Hoops. Only if it could have come to a better ending!

Jeremie Frimpong and Olivier Ntcham have already left, and now it looks like Hatem Abd Elhamed is set to follow them out of the door.

Neil Lennon confirmed the news when speaking with BBC:

"“He’s really struggled with life here.“He’s been through a really tough time of it mentally. His wife and young son are back in Israel and he really wanted to go home.“That deal will come to fruition today or tomorrow.”"

Elhamed has struggled to settle down at Celtic

The Israeli international was signed a couple of summers ago and made a good first impression upon joining. His injury struggles though meant that Frimpong would soon move ahead of him in the pecking order and never quite managed to regain his place in the first-team.

The player was struggling away from the pitch as well though. He had had to leave behind his young family back in Israel and naturally, it was a hard time for him to settle down in Glasgow. The rumours of him wanting to leave broke out in December.

And clearly the club agreed to let him leave, keeping his family situation in mind, which is the right decision. It is expected that he will move back to his country.

All we can do right now is wish him the best of luck in whatever he does in the future. Thank you Hatem.
