Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic have been hit with a double injury blow as both players are set to miss the game against Ross County.

Celtic will have a lot on the line when they take on Ross County in the Premiership. Firstly, they cannot afford to drop points in another league game anytime soon as they have already fallen far behind the Rangers in the points table.

Secondly, Ross County are the team that ended their incredible run in domestic competitions by eliminating them from the Scottish League Cup earlier in the season. This means that Celtic’s run will end with 12 straight trophies. An incredible run that had to come to an end at some point but they do have some revenge to get.

Unfortunately, with the amount of football that the team has been playing, it is impossible for the entire squad to remain fit. And they suffered two more injuries coming out of the Scottish League Cup final against Hearts.

Neil Lennon confirmed that both Shane Duffy and Scott Brown will be out against Ross County although their injuries are not long-term and the duo should be fine when the Hoops take on Hamilton Academical on Boxing Day:

One has to wonder though whether the two would have been involved in the first place. With the rise of Ismaila Soro in recent weeks, Brown’s involvement is expected to take a hit, which is probably not the worst idea considering the fact that he is 35 years of age.

The decision to include him in the team for the Scottish Cup final was perhaps a sentimental one more than anything on the part of Lennon. Although it did give us some vintage Broony moments, so we cannot complain.

On the other hand, Shane Duffy’s move to Celtic looks like a complete bust. He was brought in to add some solidity to the backline which was suspect against set-pieces and physical strikers. But their worries appear to have worsened since adding the Republic of Ireland international to the mix.
