A fake account pretending to be the Celtic star has managed to fool the supporters on social media and amass a decent following.

The Scotland national team’s win over Serbia to take them into the main stages of EURO 2020 was a historical feat for the team and one that will be remembered by the supporters for years to come. It had been over two decades since the team had last qualified for an international competition and as a result, this was their biggest in almost two generations. One man in the centre of all this was Celtic star Ryan Christie.

The midfielder scored a brilliant goal in the 52nd minute to put Scotland one goal up and for most of the game, it looked like that was gonna be enough to earn them qualification. That was unfortunately not the case though as Luka Jovic scored for Serbia in the 90th minute to take it to a penalty shootout.

But it was ultimately the Scots who held their nerve, scoring all five of their penalties. The Celtic duo Callum McGregor and Leigh Griffiths were among those who put their spot kicks away.

An interesting thing that happened after the game though was that a Twitter account claiming to be Ryan Christie popped up, claiming to give away a pair of football boots.

This later turned out to be a fake account as Christie is not on Twitter right now, which was confirmed by the Scotland National Team:

Many people had fallen for it already though. The account had managed to amass a following of over 2000 people while the post itself had gotten over 700 retweets on the tweet itself.

In case, you were one of the few unlucky ones who fell for the tweet, we would suggest that you do not wait for those boots to arrive anytime soon.
