Celtic have been handed a major boost with his return as he feels like almost a new signing and an absolutely great one at that.

Although Ryan Christie and Mohammed Elyounoussi rightly take the goal scoring plaudits each owed a debt to the splendid Tom Rogic for an assist in each case. The Australian is only just back in a Celtic shirt after a long time away from a run of matches.

And some might have questioned whether he was ready for another big game. But then it’s in the Cup and against Aberdeen at Hampden.

Those sort of matches are just made for the Aussie star. Aberdeen must see his name on the team sheet and wonder what havoc he will wreak against them. Let’s not forget though that he was close to heading out of the club to Qatar during the summer BUT thankfully after recent displays, that fell through. His stay and return to form bring on that new signing feel.

Rogic has some history over the years against Aberdeen – that last minute goal in the 2017 Scottish Cup final to seal the win and the treble will remain in Celtic hearts for a long time. And then on a very recent basis, what about this for an amazing return to form?

Rogic was well loved by fans and critics in Sunday’s semi final displaying great craft, effort and footwork all over the Hampden pitch. The simple pass to Christie for the opening goal was great. The hooked lob over the goalmouth for Elyounoussi to score shortly afterwards was excellent too.

It was also noted that Rogic coped well with a few fouls for tussles between himself and Darren Ferguson. For several the Australian was stopped in his tracks, both players fell to the ground and he looked up to see the referee awarding a free kick to Ferguson. Some of those outcomes were beyond belief and many hoops fans views are likely summed up below.

Welcome back Tom Rogic, he has added a new dimension and helped spark an on pitch recovery of form and goals.
