The Rangers social media star’s claims went viral after the Ibrox club completed the loan signing of Bongani Zungu on Deadline Day.

When Rangers completed the Deadline Day signing of South African midfielder Bongani Zungu on Deadline Day, one of their famous supporters might not have been delighted. That man being Mark Dingwall, the editor of the Follow Follow Fanzine.

In early August, there were rumours that the South African had failed a medical with the Ibrox side. Dingwall came out to claim though that there had been no medical. Why? Because apparently the Rangers were not interested in signing Zungu in the first place.

In order to back his claims, Dingwall did make some valid points. He brought up the South African’s lack of form as well as his injury issues. Both viable reasons in his mind for the Rangers to stay away from Zungu. Except that they have not.

As we all know by now, Rangers signed the midfielder on a season-long loan with a buy clause at the end of the deal as well. Not one to miss anything, Phil MacGiollaBhain was quick to put out screenshots of Dingwall’s earlier claims, which are laughable in hindsight and must have hurt his reputation amongst the Ibrox faithful. For Celtic fans, it is just another opportunity to have a good laugh:

This is nothing new from the Ibrox faithful though. Whenever they fail to get a player, it is because they never wanted him in the first place. This time though it seems that they were just caught off guard by the club’s Deadline Day deal.

Of course, a lot of their fans have already started claiming that they had a better window than Celtic after signing Zungu. Let’s hope they keep the same energy at the end of the season.
