Celtic boss destroys Charlie Nicholas with brutal reply
It is looks like Neil Lennon has had enough of Charlie Nicholas’ outrageous comments about Celtic and hit back at the pundit in brutal fashion.
It is safe to say that most Celtic fans are fed up with Charlie Nicholas talking about the club. Despite coming through the club’s youth set up and spending a total of nine seasons there in two separate stints, the pundit rarely has anything nice to say about the Hoops these days. And at this point, most people probably are not even that bothered to be honest.
Most of the time, it appears that Nicholas says the things that he does for shock value. But after years of repetition, that has worn off and all that is left is burned bridges with Celtic fans.
Now there is no doubt that Celtic enjoyed a spectacular transfer window. The board managed to tick almost all the boxes and they deserve praise for how they handled it all in the midst of a global pandemic when money was tight.
Nicholas though commented how it had been a disappointing window for the Hoops. That despite bringing in the likes of Shane Duffy, Diego Laxalt, David Turnbull, Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti, while also extending the loan deal of Mohamed Elyounoussi. To be very honest, that just does not make much sense.
Neil Lennon though seems to have had enough of Nicholas and hit back at him with a brutal reply. As reported by Raman Bhardwaj, the Celtic boss said:
"“If we had signed Messi and Ronaldo, Charlie still would have found fault with it. He’s been negative about the club for years. Charlie doesn’t think for me, he doesn’t speak for me.”"
This is just a perfect reply from Neil Lennon in this situation, where he has just said it like it is without beating around the bush. And while we are under no impression that Nicholas is going to stop coming at his former club anytime soon, this will probably give him second thoughts before doing so. Hopefully.
