The Deadline Day Celtic transfer rumour has been rubbished by a very reliable source as it looks like there is no truth to the matter.

Deadline Day is one of the craziest in the football seasons. Clubs around Europe scramble to get deals done at the last minute and very often we see astronomical money being thrown around by those in desperate need. As a result, it also gives birth to a lot of rumours, some of which have no truth to them. One such rumour was created surrounding Celtic today.

It is no secret that the Hoops are short of options on the wings at the moment with both Mikey Johnston and James Forrest out injured. And while Neil Lennon does not use conventional wingers in his 3-5-2 formation, it is expected that he would like to have a few options at hand if the situation calls for a change in tactics.

Harry Wilson on the other hand has failed to find a home for himself and is set to spend the season at Liverpool, a place were opportunities will come few and far between. Thus, there were rumblings that Celtic had made enquiries about the Liverpool winger on a loan deal. As it turns out though, there appears to be no truth to it.

Stephen McGowan, the Chief Football writer of the Scottish Daily Mail, tweeted out:

And those claims were backed by James Pearce of The Athletic:

While Harry Wilson would have surely been a phenomenal addition to the Celtic squad, the fans should be happy with the additions that the Hoops have already made in this transfer window. Shane Duffy, Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull and Albian Ajeti have arrived while the loan deal of Mohamed Elyounoussi was also extended for another season. And now with the signing of Diego Laxalt on a season-long loan also looking like a matter of time, there surely can’t be any complaints.
