Celtic might be set to make a blockbuster move on deadline day by completing a transfer for the out of favour Liverpool winger.
Deadline day is upon us and like always, it is expected to be absolute madness. We have already seen how quickly things can change at Celtic already. Just yesterday it looked like the club were set to bring in Robert Snodgrass.
That move seems to have fallen through though but instead the club look set to complete a move for versatile AC Milan man Diego Laxalt. And most fans would argue that that is an even better move than that of Robert Snodgrass.
According to recent reports, Laxalt is set to travel to London where he will undergo a medical before signing a season-long loan deal. And the move is set to solve the Hoops’ problems at left-back.
There is another position though that needs some reinforcements and that is on the wings. With James Forrest out for the foreseeable future, the club only have Mohamed Elyounoussi and Karamoko Dembele capable of playing there. And while Lennon does not need conventional wingers in a 3-5-2, such lack of depth is not good if he needs to change things up in the near future.
Snodgrass was expected to be the man who could fill Forrest’s void. But now that that move has fallen through, Celtic might pull another rabbit out of the magic hat in the form of Liverpool winger Harry Wilson. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Hoops have been checking on the availability of the Welshman.
While Liverpool will prefer a permanent move for him away, they might just be tempted into letting him leave on loan as there does not seem to be much of a future for him at Anfield. And with his move to Burnley falling through, it could be Celtic’s chance to swoop in and test the Premier League Champions’ resolve.
