Celtic are closing in on the loan signing of AC Milan left-back Diego Laxalt but the Italian giants want a massive clause in his contract.
What’s the likelihood of the rumours of Celtic signing Uruguayan international Diego Laxalt from AC Milan? Well they are unconfirmed, they may still be limited in hard facts but there are positive signs of this becoming a reality.
Stories started to emerge about the possibility late on Sunday with Italian social media sharing information that was picked up elsewhere and so it started on Celtic related media.
Sky Sports are on to it with all their usual transfer day window coverage.
This may well be led and informed via Antony Joseph, one of Sky’s editors who covers a lot of Scottish football news for them. No news yet from transfer window veteran Jim White who may be close to tears at his light blue club rivals potentially being able to secure such a huge deal. No doubt at some point we might hear that the Rangers turned the player down!
The talk gets more detailed there, rather than rumours there is former detail of a medical and potential transfer sums. That does suggest detail being discussed rather than wild speculation. The deal looks to be on a season long loan basis but with an option to buy, which is a massive amount in its own right.
Can it happen? Yes, certainly. What will it mean if it does? Well it may be an enormous transfer window for Celtic. One that it’d be hard to find a hoops fan who wasn’t pleased at least with the movements into the squad. If so, all credit to Peter Lawwell and the board who do take some stick at times but would be fully backing the team for 10-in-a-row in this instance.
As reported earlier on The Celtic Bhoys Laxalt is a talented player, 24 appearances in a strong Uruguay international team and some great performances in a Genoa side where he was then linked with Chelsea and others. It’s not worked out for him at AC Milan but he looks like he’d absolute storm it in the Hoops if it comes off.
