Neil Lennon has provided an transfer update ahead of deadline day and it should surely leave the Celtic fans excited about what is to come tomorrow.
Considering the fact that Celtic have the chance to make history and win a 10th straight Scottish league title, the club have expectedly done some impressive transfer business this season. Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull and Albian Ajeti have been brought in on permanent deals, while Shane Duffy signed on a season-long loan deal while Mohamed Elyounoussi’s stay was also extended for another season. On top of that, they have not lost any significant player.
Any other season, this would be considered a terrific window but this time around with what is at stake, the Hoops are expected to push even further. And if Neil Lennon’s comments are to be believed then a couple of new faces could come through the Parkhead door before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow.
As reported by Glasgow Live, when asked about potential transfers tomorrow, the Celtic manager said:
"“You can throw names at me all you like, you’re not going to get a straight answer.“I think either way, obviously we want to keep everybody but we do want to get a couple of players in if we can.”"
The boss seems happy with his squad though and will be content even if just one more player arrives:
"“You saw the squad today, it’s strong, and with the Europa League we’ve got all that to look forward to as well.“If we could just add one more that would be great.”"
Whatever may be the case, it looks like Celtic will be signing someone tomorrow. And the only thing left to see is that who it is going to be.
The club have been heavily linked with West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass today and he would without a doubt be a massive coup, especially with James Forrest out for the foreseeable future. The club cannot forget about left-back though which must be the real priority on deadline day.
At the moment, the club have only Greg Taylor in that position and he has not been particularly impressive in the appearances he has made this season. Yes, he should have a role at the club. But right now he is not good enough to be a regular starter for a club the level of Celtic.
