Neil Lennon has provided a hopeful injury update regarding Albian Ajeti’s availability for Celtic’s upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers.

Celtic’s 3-0 win against Hibernian was a very positive performance from the Hoops following an underwhelming start to the season. But even then, the fans were left sweating coming out of the game as they were hit with a double injury blow with both Albian Ajeti and James Forrest being forced to be subbed off.

With the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers coming up, that is not ideal for the Hoops at all. And Neil Lennon has pretty much confirmed that James Forrest will not be fit in time to feature in the big game. Celtic though have very able backup in the form of Jeremie Frimpong in his position.

The case is very different for Albian Ajeti. Odsonne Edouard has not managed to hit top form this season yet. Patryk Klimala has not shown enough to be trusted to be a starter in a game of this magnitude. And Griffiths has not even featured, meaning it will be a race against time for him to gain both form and fitness if he is to play against the Rangers.

There appears to be some hope though that Ajeti could be fit in time to face Celtic’s Glasgow rivals on October 17th. As reported by the Glasgow Times, Neil Lennon said:

"“We are hoping Albian will be fit for the Rangers game in a few weeks times.“James is going to be a bit longer but we haven’t got a certified time on that yet.”"

Ajeti’s comeback would be a huge boost for Celtic. The Swiss striker has taken to Scottish football like a duck to water, having already scored 5 goals and is averaging a goal every 47 minutes. If he manages to continue in the same vein of form, his £5 million will be the bargain of the season. And with his instincts as a poacher, he appears to be the perfect partner for Odsonne Edouard, who likes to drop deep and carry the ball forward.
