Celtic star ruled out of Glasgow Derby by Neil Lennon
Neil Lennon has handed an injury blow to Celtic ahead of the Glasgow Derby as he appears to have confirmed that the player will not be back in time from injury.
Celtic’s bad luck with injuries looks set to continue for the time being as Neil Lennon has pretty much confirmed another injury blow for the Scottish Champions. There was cause for concern coming out of their 3-0 at home against Hibernian as both Albian Ajeti and James Forrest were forced to come off with injuries in the first half itself.
And while Neil Lennon had seemed hopeful of the situation at first, it looks like James Forrest is set to miss the Glasgow Derby set to be played on October 17th at Celtic Park.
As reported by Glasgow Times, when asked about the possibility of Forrest missing against the Rangers, the Celtic manager said:
"“Yes, I would imagine so.“We are a little concerned about James because it is a sore one and we haven’t got a length of time on it just as yet.”"
It is no secret that James Forrest is one of Neil Lennon’s most trusted players, despite his performances being criticised by a number of Celtic fans in recent times. And it is more than likely that he would have been in the manager’s plans for Derby day.
Now that that is not going to be possible though, it will be interesting to see what Lennon comes up with. Jeremie Frimpong has been exceptional at right wingback and it would be a terrible mistake not to play him there. The left wingback position is one of concern though with Greg Taylor not looking up to the mark yet to be a regular starter for Celtic.
Although today’s rumours surrounding a possible loan move for Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon are very promising and could help the club seal 10IAR if the board does indeed manage to pull it off.
