Celtic expected to make Europa League announcement soon
Celtic are expected to make an announcement regarding their upcoming Europa League play-off game against FK Sarajevo soon.
Having failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the third straight season, a lot will be riding on Celtic’s Europa League Play-Off game against FK Sarajevo on Thursday.
Failure to win will see them not make any European competition this season and the financial consequences of that could be huge. It is expected to hurt even more in a season when a lot of revenue sources have been cut off due to the global pandemic. Thursday’s result might even end up being the difference between keeping a star or letting him go in order to balance the books.
One thing which is not clear yet though is how Celtic fans will watch the game. Premier Sports TV have already confirmed that they won’t be broadcasting the game which leaves Celtic TV as the only option. There is yet to be any confirmation regarding it though.
As a result, the fans can expect an official announcement from the club very soon, with the game just over 48 hours away. Ideally, an announcement could be expected by this evening.
FK Sarajevo currently sit at the top of the table in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. But when the two sides met last summer in the UEFA Championship League first round qualifier, Celtic walked out with a comfortable 3-1 win. That should of course give them a much needed confidence boost.
The abundance of talent in this Celtic squad should mean that they win the game comfortably this time around as well but you never know with this team as they have already shown that they can be completely off in certain European ties, leading to their elimination in games in which they were heavy favourites. The fans will be hoping though that that is not the case on Thursday.
