Celtic could be set to make a transfer move for the highly-rated Championship winger who the Hoops have been chasing for a while.

Celtic have already done some solid business in the current transfer window but it should not be a huge surprise if they make a couple more additions before the transfer window slams shut in a week or so. While the squad is definitely deeper than last season, they still seem light in a couple of areas.

The first is of course left-back which should be top priority for the Hoops. Greg Taylor is the only option that they have available to them in that position and it is safe to say that although he has his moments, he has not looked spectacular in the appearances he has made for the club.

Another position that needs immediate attention though are the wings. With both James Forrest and Mikey Johnston out injured, that leaves only Mohamed Elyounoussi and Karamoko Dembele. And while traditional wingers are not needed in the 3-5-2 currently being deployed by Neil Lennon, it does take away the flexibility of changing things up.

And as a result, it looks like Celtic might be in the market for another winger in the form of Bristol City’s Niclas Eliasson. The Swedish winger provided 12 assists in the Championship last season but might be on the way out with just one year left on his contract. Thus, it might be the last chance for the Championship side to get a transfer fee for the highly-rated winger. The Hoops were reportedly already linked with him in January but a move failed to materialise.

According to Bristol Post, Celtic head of recruitment, Gary Penrice, was present to watch Bristol City’s Carabao Cup game against Aston Villa. And while it is not clear whether he was specifically there to watch Eliasson or just his former, common sense suggests that so close to the transfer window shutting, only one of these options is realistic.
