Celtic major injury boost as star finally returns to squad
Celtic have been handed an injury boost as the star has finally returned to the squad that will take on Hibernian on Sunday.
It is safe to say that Celtic have not hit top form yet this season. Their performances have been quite up and down. They started the domestic season with a blistering 5-1 win over Hamilton Academical before stumbling to a draw 1-1 away at Kilmarnock and a hard-fought 1-0 win over Dundee United.
The next two games were better with a 3-0 win against Motherwell and a 5-0 win against Ross County. But then they have looked shaky again, winning 2-1 away at St Mirren and 3-2 at home against Livingston. Thus, it goes without saying that they have not looked the most convincing.
The last time that they looked comfortable was in that 5-0 win against Ross County and incidentally that was also the last time that Christopher Jullien played. Since then, Shane Duffy has played in the central role in the 3-man midfield and they have not looked quite as convincing. Thankfully, that might be about to change soon as the Frenchman has finally made it back into Celtic’s matchweek squad.
Now, Jullien has had his problems this season as well and it is known that he does not enjoy the challenge of facing a physical striker. But perhaps with great range of passing he is more suited to that central role than Duffy. He might not be quite as good of a defender but those weaknesses can be hidden flanked by Shane Duffy and perhaps Kristoffer Ajer.
While there is no guarantee that he will play against the Hibs, he has been named in the squad after being left out for a couple of weeks due to a back injury. This is the Celtic squad for tomorrow’s game as reported by the Daily Record:
