Having been partnered with Konami’s Pro-Evolution Soccer video game since 2018, Celtic FC is set to be included to the fullest extent once again as PES 2021’s “season update” released on Tuesday.
Rather than release a completely new video game, PES has chosen to release a cheaper edition this year that serves as essentially just a roster update while focusing on next year’s release on next-generation consoles.
Complete with the full squad likeness, official kits, and even Celtic Park due to the two’s official partnership, Hoops fans can simulate their way to Celtic’s 10IAR and European glory.
Coming in with an Overall rating of 3.5 stars (77 Forward, 73 Midfield, 71 Defending), the club is easily the best squad in the SPFL in the game, with rival Rangers checking in at 3 stars (75/70/70).
As far as player ratings go, PES has been pretty fair.
Odsonne Edouard comes in at an 81 rating at CF, easily the best on the team.
The club’s other forwards have rated admirably, with loanee Mo Elyounoussi at 77, Leigh Griffiths at 76, Albian Ajeti at 74, Patryk Klimala at 72.
Behind them are Dembele (66), Johnston (71), and Harper (59).
The Hoops’ midfielders come in rated fairly well also, with Forrest and McGregor both at 77, while Scott Brown and Ryan Christie are both at 76.
Following them in midfield are Ntcham (75), Rogic (75), Bitton (73), Turnbull (73), Soro (71), Henderson (68), McInroy (63), and Connell (63).
The defenders are rated just slightly behind the midfield overall, with Jullien leading the pack at 78. Shane Duffy (77) and Kristoffer Ajer (76) follow just behind, as well as Elhamed, Frimpong, and Bolingoli at 73. Behind them are Taylor (72) and Ralston (68).
The club’s new goalkeeper, Vasilias Barkas is well-rated for his debut season with the club, coming in at a respectable 75 overall. Scott Bain is not far behind at 71 with Hazard closing the keepers out at 66.
Overall a very respectably rated squad, Hoops fans should have a more than capable squad when competing for a virtual tenth-straight title.
