A real look at what you could have had at Celtic story. Sometimes players decide to take the money and roll the dice for luck. Which isn’t so great if it doesn’t come off as may be the case for Fraser Forster.
Forster was in excellent form on his loan return to Celtic last season. Many great saves and performances made him again a great crowd favourite. Who can forget his League Cup final stops against Rangers?
This all meant he was much sought after by Neil Lennon for this coming season. So much so that it became a story full of twists and turns. Would he sign for Celtic? Was he being tempted by offers elsewhere?
It didn’t really end well with Celtic seemingly thinking an offer was going to be accepted and then it all went quiet. Forster appeared to prefer to pick up his wages and take his chances at Southampton for the new season. In the end the hoops struck a great deal elsewhere to bring in Vasilios Barkas as their new keeper.
Today there was news that as a roll of the dice it’s nowhere near a six for Forster.
Sky news reporter Antony Joseph sharing the news from Southampton where Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that he sees Alex McCarthy as his best goalkeeper. And while Forster might get a chance to sit on the bench down there, he may also be downgraded below number 2 spot to go out on loan.
He could have been more than a contender, out on loan at some random club. Instead he could have graced the Parkhead pitch, some European games, helped the Hoops win trophies and played a significant part in the 10IAR challenge. So long Fraser Forster, it seems a shame but we’ve all moved on.
