Rangers’ partnership with Castore has turned into a nightmare over the last few months and now civil war has broken out at Ibrox among the supporters.
It is safe to say that things have not quite worked out as expected over the past few months between Rangers and Castore. After signing a £4-million per season deal, the fans had been promised the world regarding this new kit manufacturing deal. It has turned out to be an absolute nightmare though.
Firstly, Sports Direct swooped in to sell the kits exclusively on their site, merely months after it had appeared that the partnership was over between the two and a lot of the Rangers fans had even promised to never get anything from there. Obviously, fate had other plans.
Then there was the small matter of delayed delivery and defects in the kits when they eventually arrived. Naturally, their fans were fuming and a lot of complaints were lodged on social media.
It would not be a stretch to say that things were bad. But they have now gotten even worse after Castore and the Rangers failed to invite Club 1872 to an event that they are hosting on Wednesday. And they were not happy about it. This crops up weeks after Club 1872 had publicly criticised both of them for failing to answer to their detailed concerns regarding the kits.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Club 1872 released a statement saying:
"“We note that Rangers and Castore are holding an event on Wednesday night for a small group of fans selected by the club.“Club 1872 have not been invited to the meeting.“While this may provide some answers for a very limited number of supporters affected by these issues, we do not believe it is the correct forum to be addressing those issues, nor is it an effective or equitable way to communicate with supporters.“Every supporter who has been affected by these issues deserves a clear explanation of what has gone wrong as well as reassurance for the future.“We reiterate our strong belief that Rangers supporters – including all at Club 1872 – want to support both Castore and Rangers throughout the duration of this long-term retail partnership.“To that end, we continue to press both Rangers and Castore for appropriate responses to the questions we have asked on behalf of the support.”"
It is safe to say that things are not as rosy at Ibrox as some of their fans would want you to believe. They have the gigantic task of stopping Celtic from capturing a tenth straight league title this season. And if things were not hard enough already, they have just made it harder for themselves by creating unrest among their own fans.
Celtic fans won’t be complaining. That bit is clear.
