The Rangers biased media’s latest claims have proved to be false as they fail to find a bidder for the disgruntled Alfredo Morelos.

The PR machine ploughs on. Concrete offers for Morelos, the want away Rangers forward, are avidly reported by the Scottish mainstream media. Occasionally, we see an example where a brave reporter questions the facts.

It’s not a revolutionary approach for journalists to check the facts of a story they publish. Some work to a principle of not publishing without two credible separate sources to back the story. It’s hard to believe that’s a principle that some sports media are following in Scotland when it comes to the selling of Morelos.

Very often, the media puts out reports of clubs being interested in Morelos without anything taking place at the end of it. For example, multiple sources today claimed that Bayer Leverkusen were in for the Rangers striker.

A ‘concrete’ offer no less. Presumably that phrase was to provide added substance to this story or rumour. Unusually the story has been looked into by another media source. And guess what? There’s not much substance to the concrete or the offer.

Glasgow Live above carry the facts that a BBC journalist has checked the story, presumably by asking Bayer Leverkusen a question.

They quote the journalist Stefan Bienkowski saying:

"“I’m told Bayer Leverkusen aren’t interested in Alfredo Morelos. The Bundesliga club are set to sign Patrik Schick. May want a second striker if Lucas Alario moves on but the club haven’t identified the Rangers player as a potential replacement. Nothing in the Colombian story.”"

Well that’s surely annoying for someone. But who? Steven Gerrard seems to be losing patience with his forward.

Journalist Phil Macgiollabhain’s blogs do often refer to Operation Sell Morelos as part of a critical plan to raise money at Ibrox. If the plan needs to get stories into the media about offers for the disgruntled player then someone surely deserves a bonus for creativity and endeavour. They’ve certainly managed that task.

Glasgow Live also managed to log a story about all the bids seemingly doing so without as much as a snigger. Though they did manage to include Celtic in their list.  Their article in late August came before that concrete offer above. ‘Celtic among 24 clubs Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been linked with as Porto join list.’

The point about the ridiculous stories on offers for Morelos has not gone unnoticed by fans on social media too.

It is all quite a game though and it’s surely going to be interesting to see how it all ends. Quietly or in a huge temperamental blowout perhaps. Let’s see.
