It looks like transfer business is heating up at Celtic as they have reportedly submitted a loan bid for the highly-rated left-back.

Celtic’s transfer business has certainly picked up in recent weeks after a slow start. They managed to re-sign Mohamed Elyounoussi for another season from Southampton and then signed Vasilis Barkas, Albian Ajeti and David Turnbull for a total transfer fee of around £12 million. And that was backed up by the loan signing of Shane Duffy earlier this week from Brighton and Hove Albion in what can only be described as a dream move.

There’s still one glaring hole in this squad though that needs to be filled and quick. And that is at left-back.

Greg Taylor has been Neil Lennon’s preferred choice this season but he has not been the most convincing in the chances that he has been given. Yes, he does has his bright moments but they are few and far between. He is a passable left-back who is good enough to be a starter for a club the size of Celtic yet.

Boli Bolingoli on the other hand has neither shown he is capable of doing so on the pitch or dependable outside of it. After his stunt of going on a vacation to Spain earlier this season which got the Hoops in a world of trouble, the club would jump at the chance to ship him off to a different club. And that could be AS Roma if recent rumours are true.

And it looks like Celtic are already preparing for life after Bolingoli as according to Sky Sports, they have submitted a loan bid for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Mitchel Bakker:

"PSG have rejected a loan bid from Celtic for left-back Mitchel Bakker – but it’s understood the Champions League finalists have not completely closed the door on a potential deal with the Hoops.Bakker is 20-year-old Dutch U19 international, who came through the youth setup at Ajax."

Bakker is very highly rated but has not been able to establish himself in the first-team of the French giants and understandably so considering the embarrassment of riches they have. Thus, a season away playing regular football would do him well.

While the initial bid was rejected, they do not seem completely against the idea of the loan. And Celtic fans would hope that their good relationship with Paris Saint-Germain plays in their favour and a move can be secured soon.
