Celtic have identified Ajer replacement in case he leaves
Celtic appear to have identified their replacement for Kristoffer Ajer as the Norwegian continues to be linked with a transfer away from the club.
Celtic might have already secured the capture of Shane Duffy on a season-long loan deal from Brighton and Hove Albion but that might not be the end of their transfer business when it comes to centre-backs. Especially not when Kristoffer Ajer continues to be linked with a move away from Parkhead.
The Norwegian has always appeared seemed like someone interested in making the jump. His former agent even came out in public in the middle of the season, demanding a transfer. When he decided to get rid of that agent, Celtic fans thought it was a sign of him wanting to remain at the club. But in reality it might be him just wanting to get an exit secured quicker.
And that looks like the case as he was named as one of the two players looking for a move away from the club. Celtic though appear to have a replacement in place in case the Norwegian does end up leaving in the form Sampdoria centre-back, Omar Colley.
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have made an ‘enquiry’ about the defender. And while his £10 million asking price seems to be a bit steep, it appears that there is wiggle room on that price though:
"Celtic have made an enquiry for Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley, Sky Sports News has been told. It’s understood Sampdoria have put a price tag of around £10m on the 27-year-old, but are open to negotiation."
Kristoffer Ajer is expected to fetch a high price though if the club end up selling him that could reach as high as £25 million judging by previous reports. And in that case, getting in another centre-back would not be a problem for the Hoops.
