New details have emerged about a potential new contract for Celtic superstar Odsonne Edouard, who has attracted the interest of clubs around Europe.

Every Celtic fan would be hoping that the club find a way to keep Odsonne Edouard  at Parkhead for the foreseeable future. After all, there is no doubt that he is their best player and letting him go ahead of 10IAR season would be a catastrophe. Yes, eventually he’ll get his big move but that must not be anytime before the end of this season at the earliest.

Celtic have struggled to find the back of the net this season when he has been in the team, so it’ll naturally be much more harder to do so without him. That was on full display against Ferencvaros when Neil Lennon decided to start without a striker in his absence.

Thus, everybody around the club should and probably is desperate to keep hold of the Frenchman. Fears had heightened following Neil Lennon’s outburst after Wednesday’s defeat claiming that some players wanted to leave. Thankfully, it appears that Edouard is not one of them though.

And Neil Lennon has provided further hope by claiming that the Hoops are ready to open talks with him for a new contract. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said:

"“We want to talk to Odsonne and his representatives.“We want to keep him here for as long as we can and as long as he wants to be here.”"

Edouard has less than two years left on his current contract and as a result, an extension would be ideal for Celtic even if they want to get maximum value out of him when he moves. Thus, even a year extension on his current contract with an agreement to let him go if he wants to next summer would be viewed as a positive deal by the board.
