Rod Stewart sends message to Celtic transfer target
By Kade Kistner
Celtic supporter and entertainer Rod Stewart is hopping on the campaign trail to help recruit a defender that has been on the club’s radar.
Superstar singer Rod Stewart has never shied away from his love of Celtic football. He is routinely found in Parkhead on match day taking in the sights and sounds of one of Europe’s most hallowed stadiums. He also has a bit of clout with the club and its players.
That is why it comes as little surprise to many Hoops fans when Rod Stewart took to social media to try and recruit Brighton defender Shane Duffy to the club. Celtic is looking to add an impact starter to their backline and Duffy would fit right in with the squad.
Unfortunately, his price tag seems a but high even just as a one-year loan as Brighton are rumoured to be looking for £2 million for his services for the year on top of wages. But that type of news hasn’t kept Hoops supporters from wanting the man on the club.
Rod Stewart is one of those supporters who truly wants to see the man on the club and proved it by sending Duffy a message over social media on Monday. Here is what the superstar posted:
Duffy would make an incredible improvement to the club. Currently questions are surrounding Kristoffer Ajer’s ability and availability, as well as Christopher Jullien’s physicality. Both players are talented, but Duffy is of another level. By bringing in a player of Duffy’s calibre the club is signalling it is all in and committed to pursue the 10IAR as well as Champions League football at all cost.
With Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti already brought in for reinforcements, Duffy could prove to be one of the final pieces, especially on defence, for this club ahead of the 10IAR.
