Davie Provan has just rubbished an ex-Celtic midfielder’s claim that Neil Lennon should be given all the praise if the club wins 10IAR.

Davie Provan is at it again, but now his has taken aim at ex-Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson. As all Celtic supporters are away of at this point is the club is heading for the coveted 10-in-a-row this season. Also, the Hoops are currently led Neil Lennon (another shocker, but stick with us).

Thompson recently went on to claim that Lennon helping the club win the 10IAR would put him in the same rare air as Jock Stein who helped the club win the nine-in-a-row. Lennon has helped this current club win five different league championships, while Stein was at the club for the entire 9IAR run.

None of this means that Lennon doesn’t deserve all the praise. Lennon has been asked to do so much and much of it was in a tough position, such as takeover a club midseason after Brendan Rodgers fled to Leicester City. Lennon has played an instrumental part of helping put this club on the precipice of immortality.

However, Davie Provan disagrees. Here is what he said speaking with SunSport:

"“Ten-in-a-row fever already has some barking at the moon.“Former Celts midfielder Alan Thompson claims Lennon will be up there with Jock Stein if he gets the job done.“Do us a favour Thommo. Stein delivered all nine himself against much better opposition.“That’s taking nothing away from Lenny, who has made a huge contribution towards The Ten.“But he’s savvy enough to know it wouldn’t look at Stein’s achievement.”"

In the end, if this Hoops squad can pull out the 10IAR, every bit of credit has to go to Lennon. Stein was a legend in his own right, and Lennon in his. Both have the opportunity to cement their legacy on this club.

Now Lennon might not be the legend that Stein was, but there is no reason to spread such negativity ahead of 10IAR season.
