Celtic must sign these two players with Tom Rogic set to depart Parkhead for Qatar for a transfer fee reported to be around £4 million.
The first thing we need to do is thank Tom Rogic for the years of service that he has given to Celtic. Joining the club as a 20-year-old in 2013, he would go on to become one of the most important players at the club but constant injuries in recent seasons has meant that he has fallen down the pecking order and now finds himself struggle to make it onto the pitch on most weeks.
News broke out earlier today that Rogic was close to completing a £4 million move to a Qatari side. Thus, while it will be sad to see him leave, it perhaps best for both parties to part ways right now. It will not be an easy goodbye but one that must happen.
Unfortunately, football is a game that seldom waits and Celtic must already start preparing to invest that £4 million transfer fee, especially when 10IAR is up for grabs this season.
One of the players that the club must try to sign is Shane Duffy. There is no doubt that he will improve Celtic’s defence. The only problem with him is the steep £2 million loan fee that Brighton want. But this cash injection should mean that the club have enough to afford that fee and now they have no excuse for not making it happen.
The second one is the direct replacement for the hole that Rogic will leave in the squad in the form of David Turnbull. The club had already agreed a £3.25 million move for him last season only to see it fall through at the last moment as he failed his medical.
That injury saw him miss the majority of last season and as a result, he is surely not worth what he was then. Celtic are reportedly still interested and a fee in the range of £2 million might get the deal done this time around.
Thus, for the transfer fee that they’ll receive for Rogic could be used to bring in Turnbull as well as Duffy on a season-long loan. Get it done!
