Celtic fans were not happy with the club’s transfer decision and they’ll certainty need to look for a replacement soon.

After the recent signing of Albian Ajeti from West Ham and return of Mo Elyounoussi, the club offloaded the 23-year-old Marian Shved, who has struggled for playing time at Parkhead.

Having joined Celtic last January, he was immediately loaned back to his former club Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine, where he would have 15 goals in 26 appearances for the side that season, winning their league’s Player of the Month for March 2019.

At the time an exciting prospect for the Hoops, he looked to have the talent for a positive future with the club but has been yet unable to break into the squad with just three appearances. He did, however, take full advantage in his first club appearance, scoring a goal against Nõmme Kalju FC in the 2019–20 UCL second qualifying round of the as a second-half substitute.

Celtic have talent on the wings, and there’s a chance Shved could develop with KV Mechelen in time to break into the starting side in the seasons to come, especially with Mo Eyounoussi only at the club on a loan from Southampton currently.

On the other wing is James Forrest, who has proved his worth for the club over the years. Although, questions have been raised over his form in recent times.

The move reportedly contains an option to buy, however, which has garnered much criticism from Celtic fans online who believe the club could lose another prospective talent, potentially for less than he’s worth.

All this means that a lot of Celtic fans were not the happiest lot when the deal was announced:

While it is definitely a positive for Marian to gain some experience in the Belgian top-flight, if he is purchased next season the club may end up in a scramble to find a replacement winger.

Hoops fans, reply via Twitter or in the comments and let us know what you think of the deal!
