Transfer business seems to be heating up at Celtic as they have opened talks with the Premier League star after signing Albian Ajeti.

It looks like transfer business is finally starting to pick up at Celtic Park. The club have already secured the signings of Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti for a combined sum of around £9 million. But that does not seem to be the end of new arrivals for the moment although there surely is not a lot more money to spend in the current window.

Even then, a lot of positions need strengthening and as a result, the best way to go for now might be the loan route. And that is exactly they seem to be going as according to reports they have already opened talks with Brighton defender Shane Duffy.

Duffy signed a long-term contract with the Premier League side in October but has failed to make it into the first-team picture since then. So he is interested in leaving the club although his contract runs till 2023. And a season-long loan spell at Parkhead seems to be an attractive proposition for the boyhood Celtic fan.

They are not the only ones interested though as West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion and Burnley are also admirers of the no nonsense centre-back. As reported by the Daily Mail:

"And Sportsmail understands no nonsense defender Duffy discussed a one year loan deal with Neil Lennon earlier this week.Under contract until 2023, the 28-year-old is keen on a season in the the SPFL. However, a deal remains a long way off and depends on the clubs finding a compromise over a loan fee and wages."

A loan deal makes perfect sense for Celtic. There is no obligation to buy and if they cannot afford him at the end of the season, they can just send him back to Brighton. His addition would go a long way in solidifying the defence though, which has struggled whenever up against physical strikers.
