Rangers fans make unfounded accusations against Celtic
Not one to let any opportunity slip, Rangers fans wasted no time in making unfounded accusations against Celtic following the Bolingoli incident.
Let us start of by saying that there is no excuse for what Boli Bolingoli did. If somehow you are still yet to get the news, the Celtic left-back travelled to Spain during a two-day break without the knowledge of the club officials and then took part in last Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock, when he should have been in quarantine instead.
Of course, when the news broke it shook Scottish football to its core and it is the only thing that the media has been talking about since then. And probably rightfully so. But this has also given rise to a lot of baseless rumours and of course, some unfounded accusations from the Rangers fans.
The break was just two days unlike the four that a lot of people seem to have suggested. Neil Lennon has even come out and explained what happened in detail. But that has not stopped the Rangers fans from accusing that the club knew everything all along and still decided to play Bolingoli against Kilmarnock:
First of all, the fact that Celtic would play Bolingoli despite knowing that he should be in quarantine is absolutely ridiculous. The left-back can’t make it into the team anyway but somehow Neil Lennon felt that he could not do without the Belgian for the last three minutes of action. Everything about that defies any logic.
Let’s be clear on one thing. You can be absolutely sure about the fact that Celtic had no knowledge of the incident. Why? Because the player did not inform them. He would have known that the club would not allow him to leave on a one day trip to Spain. Why he decided to go on the trip is something even we have not been able to find a logical answer to though. And we probably will never be able to.
