It looks like Celtic are finally set to complete the signing after chasing the player for weeks in a long drawn transfer saga.

Celtic’s transfer business in the current window can only be described as inefficient and a source of frustration for the supporters. It feels like an eternity since the club have been chasing the transfer of West Ham United’s Swiss striker Albian Ajeti.

At first looked like the transfer would be completed swiftly only for the player himself to ask for more time to consider his future at the last moment. Then news broke out that Neil Lennon had convinced the striker that Parkhead was the place to be for him and Sky Sports claimed he was in Glasgow. Those rumours ultimately turned out to be inaccurate.

This understandably frustrated a lot of the Celtic fans but now it looks like the Hoops have finally got their man. Pictures have emerged of Albian Ajeti in Glasgow and were posted by PLZ Soccer. That can of course mean only one thing.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo completed his move to Toulouse earlier today and Ajeti will be taking his position at the club. It was only last season that West Ham United had paid £8 million to sign him from FC Basel, for whom he had scored 37 goals in 75 appearances. The 23-year-old found life harder in the Premier League though, failing to score in 12 appearances for the Hammers last season.

Originally it had appeared that Celtic were set to swoop in to sign him on a season-long loan. But things seem to have changed now, as recent reports from the Daily Record suggest that he will be joining on a permanent deal worth £5 million. One can only hope that such significant investment on a striker does not point towards the exit of a certain Odsonne Edouard.
