New details have emerged about Boli Bolingoli’s secret trip to Spain without informing Celtic officials that has thrown the future of the season into doubt.

The mood was already down at Celtic following a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock in a lifeless display away at Rugby Park on the very second match of the Premiership season. Things plunged into a new low though when news broke that Boli Bolingoli had taken a trip to Spain without informing the club officials and had then returned to feature in Sunday’s game as a late substitute.

While his future at the club was already in doubt following a subpar season since joining from Rapid Veinna last summer. And now the fact that he has put the club in jeopardy with this move could and probably should be the final nail in the coffin of his Celtic career.

As things turn out, he took a two-day trip to Spain when the players where given a couple of days off following the Hamilton game. Earlier rumours suggested that it was a four day break but it has been confirmed to be two. Whatever be the case, it does not diminish the irresponsibility shown by Bolingoli one bit.

Thankfully the Belgian has tested negative along with the rest of the squad and staff but the timing of this just could not be worse. Aberdeen came under a lot of criticism after eight of their players went to a pub after their games against the Rangers and two of them tested positive for the virus. And then, Leigh Griffiths hosted a birthday party for his partner which broke quarantine and social distancing rules.

Now this incident could very well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back as there is genuine danger that the football season could be called off for the time being if things don’t improve regarding these breach of quarantine rules.
