It looks like Celtic have finally got their man as the striker is in Glasgow in order to complete his Parkhead switch.

Celtic have not showed much urgency in the transfer market, having brought in just Vasilis Barkas till now and that too because Fraser Forster went cold on the idea of a second consecutive loan spell at the club.

Yesterday’s lifeless display against Kilmarnock in a 1-1 draw away at Rugby Park seems to have worked as a wake up call. And after weeks of countless rumours linking the Hoops to a wide variety of strikers, it looks like they have finally got their man in the form of Swiss striker Albian Ajeti.

It was not too long ago though that the move looked dead in the water after Ajeti got cold feet just before completing the switch. It looks like though that it was Neil Lennon who intervened and has convinced the striker that Parkhead is the place to be for him. And according to reports, he is in Glasgow and will be undergoing a medical at Celtic within the next 24 hours.

The Swiss striker had a wonderful spell at FC Basel, scoring 37 goals in 75 games. That convinced West Ham United to complete a £8 million transfer but things have clearly not worked out for Ajeti in the Premier League. He never managed to found the back of the net last season and the Hammers will be happy to get him off the books.

It could be a shrewd move on the part of the Hoops though to get him in. He clearly has the talent and only needs to adjust to the Scottish league. We already have Edouard, Griffiths and Klimala, so we will not need him to come in and immediately start firing on all cylinders.

From what has been circling around, it will be a one year deal with Celtic having the option to make the move permanent for a fee in the range of £5-5.5 million at the end of the season.
