Celtic are building on the booming sales of their new Adidas kit with clever use of their Hollywood links and social media providing excellent world wide coverage.

Hollywood A-list star James McAvoy is already a well known celebrity fan of the hoops and has played at Parkhead in some charity football matches. It’s no surprise he’d be delighted to receive a new Adidas shirt from the club and share his surprise gift on social media. It shows clever thinking at the club to send the shirt to him so they’ll be pleased to see  McAvoy on Instagram and via other media proudly wearing the new top and sharing with his almost 4m followers there.

McAvoy sent back his thanks to both Celtic and to Chris Jullien whose name and number were added to the top sent out:

"“Big thanks to the big man Chris Jullien and Celtic for the new strip. Can’t wait to get back to paradise to see you in the flesh. In the meantime get stuck in!!!!”"

And with Jullien responding on Instagram:

"“I’m a fan of James McAvoy’s performances plus he’s a true Bhoys’ fan, what else?”"

Social media and press coverage grew, helping promote further the Adidas kit and boost the already record breaking deal around the world.

Definitely clever thinking and smart use of social media by the club. It sits alongside some paid coverage organised with two Glasgow influencers and models to help promote the Adidas range via their 350k followers.

And no doubt boosted further for other supporters with Scottish Love Island star Anton Danyluk appearing in the media with his new Celtic shirt.

It’s only a small set of examples but illustrates a club working hard to make the most of social media opportunities and imagery to promote the new kit and show it off in the best light.

We know a few other clubs are struggling more for those eye catching pictures of their new kit.
