The former Celtic man has told the Rangers to try to sign the player who is also a part of Neil Lennon’s transfer wishlist.

Celtic have not had a great deal of luck when it comes to their former players becoming part of the Scottish media following their retirement from the game. Of course there are people like Chris Sutton, who has endeared himself to the Hoops fans further after becoming a pundit.

But then there are also people like Charlie Nicholas, the bare mention of whom these days is sure to annoy any Celtic fan owing to some of the things he says. And Kris Commons does not appear to be far behind either in this regard.

It was not too long ago that he hit out at Leigh Griffiths in his column. And while Griffiths did deserve criticism for not returning to training in tip top shape, he would have at least expected his former teammate to have his back during a difficult phase where most of Scottish media was busy claiming his Celtic career was over.

And now, Commons is giving out free transfer advice to Rangers as they aim to stop Celtic from securing a tenth straight Scottish league title or the ‘Holy Grail’ of Scottish football.

Martin Boyle is a player who has been linked with Celtic in this transfer window. And having worked with Lennon before, he could really be a solid backup option to James Forrest, a position where the Hoops do not have much depth at the moment. Commons though believes that Rangers should go after him as well.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the former Celtic man said:

"“Given that he’s only got a year left to run on his contract, bigger clubs are bound to be looking at him. I know for a fact that Neil Lennon rates him highly and thoroughly enjoyed working with him during their time together at Easter Road.“I also don’t see why the likes of Rangers shouldn’t at least have a look at him and explore the possibility of making an offer. With just a year left on his contract, Boyle wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Especially not with the financial problems Hibs are facing. He could be available at a knockdown price. I reckon a bid of around £250k would be enough to at least ask the question of Hibs.”"

To be very honest, Rangers are not waiting on Kris Commons to provide them transfer advice. But takes like this will only alienate him from the Celtic fans. Or maybe this is exactly what he wants. Some notoriety and attention. In which case, he is doing a good job.
