The Celtic boss has made a major decision regarding his new big money signing, Vasilis Barkas.

Neil Lennon sat down at a press conference ahead of Celtic’s opener in the SPL this coming Sunday. He answered questions on a variety of topics, but the main takeaway was the manager’s position on the GK for first team. It seems that Fraser Forster has moved on, and if not he will take a back seat at The Hoops.

Lennon has appointed Vasilis Barkas as his first pick for goalie ahead of the push for 10IAR. The 26 year old gave an interview yesterday and said he was excited about the prospect of getting put in first and went into detail on how little pressure affects him.

The pressure will be a little this time around though as there will be no fans in the arena due to the spread of the , an interesting experience that winger Mohamed Elyounoussi talks about here.

The Greek goalkeeper signed with the Scottish giants this week and is already jumping into his baptism of fire. This is the same tactic that Lennon employed with Forster a year ago and it went down a treat.

The move makes sense; Lennon keeps the recipe for success going and Barkas is a permanent fixture, anyone else coming into the fold this late might be a loan or a replacement. Scott Bain is also waiting in the wings to fill in for Barkas if anything happens, first team brought him in for a specific purpose and they wouldn’t bench him in favour of Bain.

So we get to see Barkas in action against Hamilton at Celtic Park this Sunday, history will be written in these coming few months as the push for ten-in-a-row finally gets underway. The crowd will be absent, the cheers will be artificial as the opening ceremony commences and the game is played.

But know this, the eyes of world are on Celtic Park and the excitement is real.
