It looks like Celtic are set to bring in another striker as Neil Lennon refused to rule out of a move when asked about the possibility of a move.

According to numerous sources, Neil Lennon has refused to eliminate the possibility of bringing veteran forward Steven Fletcher to Celtic Park. In a revealing interview, the Irishman refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding the 33 year-old, stating that he was not interested in talking about individuals.

There is no secret that the Bhoys are in the market for another front-man in their chase for a historic tenth league victory. Anticipation that the Parkhead club could look to favour two strikers domestically this campaign is increasing. In conjunction with the Scotland international being available as a free agent at present, could this be a mutually beneficial move for both parties?

As reported by Herald Scotland, talking about Steven Fletcher, Neil Lennon said:

"“He is a good player. I am not going to confirm or deny that, I don’t want to talk about individuals.”"

Statistically, Fletcher excelled for Sheffield Wednesday last season netting an impressive 13 goals from 27 English Championship appearances. Whether aerially or on the ground, the former Hibernian star carries a vast array of attributes which could be of use to Neil Lennon in the coming calendar year.

Propensity to bring others into play and occupy, coupled with the capability to get on the end of crosses could give the Hoops an alternative outlet in offensive situations that they feasibly lack. Understandably, some sections of the Hoops support have expressed concern over his age, and what could be viewed as a short term-ism approach should a potential acquisition ever come to fruition.

Despite this, there could be a role for Fletcher at Celtic. Competition for key areas is an area of vast importance in football. Securing the services of the Scot, could provide the Celts with an affordable and reliable attacking route going forward this campaign.
