It looked like Albian Ajeti’s move to Celtic on a season-long loan was already done but now another club is trying to hijack the move.

Next season is perhaps the biggest in the history of Celtic Football Club as they will get the chance to capture a tenth straight Scottish league title, the ‘Holy Grail’ of Scottish football. As a result, the club will want to have as strong of a squad as they can going into the season as there is no scope for failure.

It was with this view in mind that they had looked to make a move for West Ham United’s Albian Ajeti. The Swiss striker was prolific for FC Basel, scoring 37 goals in just 75 appearances for them but his move to the Premier League has not quite worked out. He has failed to find the back of the net and the London club are looking to get rid off him just a season after his £8 million move.

It looked like Celtic had gotten their man with a season-long loan deal agreed with West Ham United with an option to buy him for £5 million at the end of the deal. But yesterday news broke out that Ajeti himself has gotten cold feet regarding the move and asked for more time.

And as reported by Read Celtic, it might be because another club have asked him to delay the move as they are also interested in bringing him in and are set to make him another offer. While the club have not been named, it looks like it might be West Bromwich Albion, who will be returning to the Premier League next season after finishing second in the Championship.

It would be hard for Celtic to compete with a Premier League club in terms of finances but that does not mean that Ajeti will not be heading to Parkhead. After all, he had a terrible time last season and might want to move away from the league as soon as possible. There does not seem to be any possibility of him undertaking a medical on Wednesday like it was believed.
