Major twist in Celtic’s transfer move for Albian Ajeti
Celtic’s move for Albian Ajeti had looked done and dusted but there might be another twist in the tale at the very last second.
Celtic are not a club known for getting their transfer business swiftly. Thus, when it looked like the club had managed to make two major coups on the same day, it was a breath of fresh air to be honest.
The club were in dire need of a goalkeeper after failing to bring back Fraser Forster for another season as the Englishman appeared to be more interested in fighting for his place at Southampton than be a part of 10IAR season. Thus, the Hoops had to go out and pay €5 million to secure the services of Greek international Vasilios Barkas from AEK Athens. He will reportedly undergo a medical on Wednesday before the move is made official.
Another one was the season-long loan deal for West Ham United striker Albian Ajeti. The Swiss had a brilliant record at FC Basel, scoring 37 goals for them in 75 appearances. Things were not as rosy for him in the Premier League as he failed to score even once last season. As a result, the Hammers were keen to move him on and Celtic will have an option to buy him at the end of the loan for £5 million.
It is Ajeti though who now appears to have doubts over joining the Scottish champions and apparently has gotten cold feet regarding the move. An West Ham Insider Twitter account, which has been described by Hammers News as being very reliable, broke the news:
Ajeti would be a shrewd piece of business for the Hoops, if we can bring him in. Thus, we can only hope that this is some last minute rumour without much truth in it. But at the end of the day if a player is not completely sure of moving to Celtic then he should not because it takes absolute 100% to succeed here.
