According to reports in Germany, Celtic are set to trigger the star’s £5 million release clause in order to bring him to Parkhead.

Celtic are on a bit of a roll in the transfer market right now as two players are reportedly set to undergo medicals at Parkhead tomorrow before their moves are announced officially. The two players are AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas and West Ham United striker Albian Ajeti.

Celtic clearly needed a goalkeeper after it became clear that Fraser Forster was not set to return this season. And Barkas was a very solid option available to the club, having already played against top competition in a very strong Greek Super League and has also made 10 appearances for the Greece national team. Thus, the €5 million fee the club will reportedly be paying for his services is justified.

Ajeti also looks like a shrewd signing. He had a terrific record at FC Basel, scoring 37 goals in 75 appearances for them but had failed to make an impact at West Ham United. He’ll be moving to Parkhead on a season-long loan and Celtic have an option to buy him for £5 million when the deal expires.

This leaves the club with five strikers though and as a result, it is weird that they are being linked with another in the form of Union Berlin’s Swedish striker Sebastian Andersson. According to Kicker, the Hoops are ready to trigger his £5 million.

Now Andersson was very impressive in his debut campaign in Bundesliga, scoring 12 times and guiding his team to a strong 11th position finish. The move does not make any sense for Celtic at this point of time though.

They already have five strikers at the club and might be in need of moving one out instead of bringing others in. This might have been a deal the Hoops were interested in before the Ajeti deal and although you never know in the crazy world of football, feel free to take this news with a pinch.
