Neil Lennon transfer admission is great news for Celtic fans
Neil Lennon’s transfer admission will be music to the ears of some concerned Celtic fans with no club not having brought anybody in yet.
It is undeniable that the global pandemic has wrecked havoc on the finances of most clubs around the club. And it would be futile to think that Celtic have remained untouched although the strong financial base of the Hoops has surely left them in a better position than most.
With 10IAR season coming up, the club will be expected to put out the strongest team possible on the pitch next season but unfortunately nobody has been brought in yet except Mohamed Elyounoussi, whose loan deal was extended by another year. The rest of Celtic’s business has been letting go of fringe players.
That is understandable though since the club cannot have the luxury of keeping hold of players with no future at Parkhead, especially in this financial climate. Many Celtic fans are even afraid how much the global pandemic has affected their transfer budget. Whatever may be the case, they cannot face away from some of the squad positions that need strengthening though.
Neil Lennon’s admission is cause for celebration though as it appears that he has not been informed about any reduction in their budget. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the manager said:
"“Listen, I’ve had no indication from Peter that the climate has changed. It’s business as usual as far as I am concerned. But I’m not close to anything just now. I’m spinning a few plates but there’s nothing concrete at the moment.“There are a couple of positions that we are looking to strengthen. Goalkeeper is one of them and we are working on a number of options. Hopefully there may be something this week. We are working on a number of options for other positions, too.”"
That is good news because the club certainly need another goalkeeper as Bain has not been very convincing in pre-season. Another left-back won’t be the worst idea either as neither Greg Taylor nor Boli Bolingoli have shown any indication of being a long-term solution. And with Leigh Griffiths’ future at Parkhead up in the air, another striker might be needed as well.
