Neil Lennon rules out any chance of Celtic star leaving
Amidst a lot of rumours, Neil Lennon has ruled out any possibility of letting the Celtic star leave in the summer transfer window.
With live in an age where it is very easy to make a mile out of an inch. Any little spat and the media get on with creating tales of players looking to leave. But when Leigh Griffiths returned to training from lockdown unfit, there certainly seemed to be something that could lead to his Celtic departure.
A lot of that depended on how Neil Lennon took the matter and when he came out in public about the issue, it was clear that he was angry with the situation. So much so that Griffiths had been left out of the club’s pre-season tour of France to play the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon and Nice. Thus, the rumours of a Griffiths departure only intensified but now the Celtic manager has decided to take things into his own hands and shut them down for the time being.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, speaking of the possibility of a Griffiths exit, Lennon said:
"“I’m not even considering that at the minute. He’s been coming on but we’ll assess him when we get back.”"
One thing we can say is that Griffiths is no stranger to making a comeback when things look down and out for him. Last season, his Celtic career appeared to be finished following the big money arrival of Patryk Klimala in January. But the Scot managed to make his way back into the starting XI again after some brilliant displays following the winter break.
Now, Celtic fans will be hoping that he has a similar response in the face of adversity once again. Yes he can be hard to deal with at times but on his day, he can be a top striker and that’s quality the club can’t just go out and replace for cheap.
